Postgraduate in Ireland

The academic year usually runs from September to June in two or three terms. You can expect to find that your postgraduate studies will be a compendium of lectures, tutorials and practical or project group work.

Qualifications and duration.

• Graduate Diploma. Usually 1 year, for graduates wishing to build on their profile.
• Master Degree. Coursework or research, normally 1 or 2 years.
• Doctorate (PhD). Usually a minimum of 3 years.

Tuition fees per year.

The following are provided simply for orientation purposes, and are subject to change:

• Non-EU/EAA students € 8,000 to € 17,000/year depending on area of study and university.
• EU/EAA students € 2,000 to € 8,000; for example, MSc Top-Up to MBA in International Business Management € 2,000; LLM in International Law € 7,000; MA in Design € 6,500.
• Non-EU/EAA students € 2,000 to € 10,000; for example, MSc Top-Up to MBA in International Business Management € 2,000; LLM in International Law € 10.000; MA in Design € 8,000.

Can I work while I study?

• EU/EAA students may work anywhere in the EU zone. Non EU/EEA students on immigration Stamp 2 permission and enrolled on courses with institutions listed on the Internationalisation Register have received permission to work in casual employment up to 20 hours/week during term time and 40 hours/week during holidays.

Where will I live?

• On campus or with a family. We help organize your accommodation with the international office at each university.

Undergraduate in Ireland

Entry to university study in Ireland is competitive and is based on final examination results; a point system prevails in the Irish system. Applications from outside Ireland, from international students or students from other EU/EAA countries, will be evaluated in terms of each academic profile, English language level, overall achievements and objectives.

Qualifications and duration.

• Higher Certificate: 2 year full-time course.
• Bachelors Degree (ordinary): 3 year full-time course.
• Bachelors Degree (Hons.): Normally a 3 or 4 year course. Most Bachelor Degrees carry the “Honours” qualification, referring to a thesis capping the Degree. An Honours Degree is required to enter postgraduate studies.

Tuition fees per year.

• EU/EAA students € 4,600 to € 5,950; for example, BA (Hons.) Business Studies € 4,950; BSc in Computing € 4,955; BA (Hons.) Business and Law € 5,950. (private).

Foundation/Gap year in Ireland

Work Experience/ Internship in Ireland

Grow in confidence and knowledge in a safe learning professional environment. Considered part of your learning experience, a “practicum” is unpaid. We will organize your internship for you in conjunction with our colleagues in Ireland.

High Schools in Ireland

Secondary Junior education generally begins at age 12 and runs for 3 years. The Junior cycle is completed with the Junior Certificate for which students follow core subjects including English, Mathematics, History and Geography, Social Personal & Health Education, Civic, Social and Political Education and two additional subjects selected from Languages, Science, Business Studies, Art and Music.

A optional one-year Transition Year is now offered between Junior and Senior cycles, the objective being to promote personal development and prepare to become autonomous, participative and responsible members of society. The year does not finish with an examination but with an assessment.

The Senior cycle runs for two years, for students of 15 to 18 years of age, it leads to the Leaving Certificate Examination and high school graduation

Choosing the best education is one of the most important decisions we will make for our children. It is perfectly viable to study in another country for a term, an academic year or even more. We will be happy to help you make the best selection.

Duration.

• 10 weeks, semester or academic year.
• Two years or more, particularly if your objective is graduation from high school and access to university.
