Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a modern and vibrant city with an extraordinary cultural life and a long period of Western influence. A city where English and Cantonese, new and old, West and East co-exist. It’s located right in the middle of China's southern coast. The area is developing at an astonishing pace. It is linked by strong commercial and cultural ties, as well as high-speed transportation.

Recent reforms have brought Hong Kong's curriculum into line with international standards to turn out well-rounded, capable students. Education in Hong Kong has a similar system to that of the United Kingdom and with several universities and other tertiary institutions in just one city, tertiary education plays a key role in the education system.

As for Higher Education, there are eight statutory universities in total, which are funded by University Grants Committee except The Open University of Hong Kong (at present a self-financing institution). They are government-funded, internationally-recognized universities which offer Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees. All of them use English as medium of instruction for most of their courses. Many offer crash courses in Chinese language so that foreign students can make the most of their stay: Browse the list of universities.

They and other institutions also offer post-secondary diplomas, certificates, and vocational training.
