Japan

Konnichiwa! Nihon e Irasshaimase! Welcome to the Land of the Rising Sun. In north-east Asia between the North Pacific and the Sea of Japan, the surface area of Japan is almost equivalent to Germany and Switzerland, or slightly smaller than California. Japan values its timeless traditions as much as its focus towards the future.

The greatest appeal of study in Japan is the environment combining state-of-the-art technology and outlook. This is why 140,000 international students were enrolled at Japanese universities in 2011 and the number keeps on growing. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) ensures quality of education. The National University of Tokyo and University of Kyoto are the most prestigious public universities followed by the superb private institutions.

Japan is a country of interesting contrasts; you will find superb education, high technology, manga & anime, skyscrapers, ancient temples, j-pop, cos-play, samurais, huge megacities, small fishing villages and endless cultural challenges to discover. Find out more about scholarships and useful tips in the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) website. If you are not sure yet read the guide to study in Japan!
